posting from my iPhone while riding on BART just cuz I can…

text messaging

the biggest reason why text messaging is more convenient than voice calls: you can text while sitting on the toilet and not feel awkward about it. no waiting till the conversation is over to flush, nothing. i love technology.

Sad that the rain started right as I walked outside

thanks grandma

my grandma wrote an essay that was included the april’s ensign. its the first article, written by treasure elder barfuss:

finally my mother wanted to know

this is a pretty important story in my life. just thought it would be nice to share it with you all.

survived his first attempts at riding a longboard.

ok, confession time

i’ve never gotten a girl’s phone number. yup. i mean, of course i have girls' numbers in my phone, but they are all from friends or people who i got them from out of necessity. never have i been out at a party and said to a girl “hey, can i have your number?” i think this is a major failure on my part.

dumpster diving

as some of you might have noticed from my twitter status last night, i was doing some garbage digging in search of a receipt for a piece of clothing i wanted to return (side note: i never did find the receipt, but i returned it and they gave me a full refund anyway). i guess this garbage digging must have rubbed off on me, because today as i was putting an empty diet pepsi bottle into the recycling can, i noticed a couple of other pepsi bottles with their caps still on in there, and the first thing i thought was “ooh, pepsi stuff points.” thankfully before i started digging through the used plastic bottles i realized i was in a public place surrounded by coworkers and i thought better of it. on 49 bottles left until i have enough for a cd!

no longer digging through garbage, consigned to store credit.

1/6 of the way from earning enough pepsi points for a CD!!

old memories from high school. if you are reading this, thanks for the laugh, skull. your american history textbook cover will always bring fond memories.

on to the subject at hand:

who wants to be in my posse? katria, dragon lady, and yellow have already been invited. you can join too if you want.

jee ell ay em oh arr oh yew ess yeah

i had a couple of epic fails this weekend.

  1. when a cute girl says hi, don’t just say hi, look away, and awkwardly keep moving…

  2. when a cute girl who you have met before comes up and asks you to dance with her friends, you should dance with them (good job), but you really should ask the girl for her number, especially since she remembers your name and where you are from.

save the internet

i haven’t written on net neutrality before, but i hope you all realize how important it is. how would you like to have to pay to access “premium” site such youtube or even google? how about having to pay for “premium” services such as picture sharing, video downloads, or even blogging? the telecommunication companies want to create a tiered network in order to squeeze more money from us. the problem with that is they are trying to do this over the network lines that have been subsidized by our tax money. the internet is not theirs to regulate. net neutrality will ensure that we are able to have equal access to all parts of the internet no matter who we choose as our internet provider.

and guess which presidential candidate is strongly for net neutrality? vote obama to keep enjoying your internet.

celebrating the 20th anniversary of rick astley’s hit, never gonna give you up.

at work. only bother me if you really need to.. or you want to.. because i most likely would appreciate it.

not impressed with jamba juice’s new “blended breakfasts”

back from running on a beautiful spring evening.

eating too much candy. having a candy drawer is dangerous.

those little frustrations

i am collecting “pepsistuff” points, since they can buy mp3s and CDs from amazon.com. so its just kind of an added bonus to having a soda to sip on during the day to keep me awake at work. well, i bought a diet pepsi today from the vending machine instead of the cafeteria, and it ended up being an older bottle without the pepsistuff code. grr.

facebook friends

is it wrong of me that i remove girls from my facebook friends once they get married? i mean, its not like i am against married people or anything, but it just feels weird having a married girl as a friend. there are a few i am cool with keeping, since we were pretty good friends before and after their marriage, but just for some of girls i was friends with only a short while, as soon as i see that they are married, i usually just delete them. i wonder if thats wrong of me. maybe i just don’t feel like seeing my news feed filled with wedding pictures? unless of course those pictures include me crashing the wedding reception…

trying to decide if mid-60s is good weather for a nice run… ok yup.

should i buy an iphone?

ok, i really want one. bad. i am not a cell phone “power user”, so i can’t really see myself fully utilizing something like a nokia n95, but i want something with internet access for email, browsing, and maps. also my 4th gen black and white ipod’s screen is starting to go, so i could use a new media player (the addition of video playback would be nice).

here are some pros to getting an iphone:

  1. its sexy. i love apple products. every time i meet a friend with an iphone i will just sit and play with it incessantly.

  2. windows mobile blows. i have a samsung blackjack right now. it is a pain to use. it has an ugly and unintuitive interface and slow loading apps. internet explorer mobile is worse than its desktop counterpart. and of course there is no good free way to sync it with my mac. i need to spend $40 on the missing sync.

  3. i’m already on at&t and i am paying the exact same amount now as i would be if i switched over to an iphone plan. no changes there.

  4. as mentioned above, its not only a phone, its also an internet device (to feed my email and browsing addictions) and a media player (which automatically syncs with the app that i keep my media collection in, itunes).

  5. apple just released the beta sdk. there are going to be some sweet apps coming in june.

ok, so i would say these are some pretty compelling reasons. now for the cons.

  1. 3G. let me repeat that again. 3G. the iphone does not yet have it. despite the suckiness of the blackjack, websites do load dang fast on it. i don’t know if i could handle dial-up speeds on my phone.

  2. iphone 2.0. this is directly related to con #1, since we all know that iphone 2.0 will have 3G and probably more. the biggest issue is when this will come out. some people speculate june. if thats the case, then my best bet is to wait. i would not buy the missing sync (since i would only use it for a little while anyway), and i would not purchase a micro-sd card for my blackjack. other speculation says sometime before christmas. this is a little tougher. i would really need to weigh in my above pros with the $500 i would be throwing down. if iphone 2.0 is going to be next summer, then yes, i would want to get an iphone now. it would definitely be worth it for me. but since i have no way of knowing when it will be, i am stuck.

so do i: a) buy an iphone now, b) hold off a bit without purchasing any accessories for the blackjack, c) put the iphone on indefinite hold, pick up the missing sync, some headphones, and a micro-sd card for the blackjack.

these are my options. any help would be appreciated. so far, dragon lady votes i get it, and the BC votes i hold off. this is my thing to think about this weekend.

torn between buying an iphone or sticking with the blackjack.

toubled by the difficulty of debugging an uninstaller.

annoyed. not too sure which to be annoyed from the following: video card, monitor, driver, X11…

realizing he should use twitter to update his facebook status to avoid strange statuses…

having a relaxing evening of searching for lost mail keys and troubleshooting x windows.

does not compute

i bought some new socks last night. they came in a “re-sealable” bag. why would i want to re-seal my socks? i don’t get it..

things i should have done this weekend:

  • gotten groceries to end my three weeks of empty shelves.
  • gone to the post office to mail some important documents.
  • bought some new socks to replace all the ones with holes.
  • done some laundry.
  • gone to the gym so that i would have gone more than once last week.
  • not eaten so many red vines.

sigh, san francisco was nice though. picked up some shirts at h&m and martin+osa. bought a monitor from molecularbond, so that is nice to have. it was a bit windy, but the ocean and golden gate park were beautiful. i stopped by amoeba music and picked up a few cds for cheap. i also went to the nancy boy store. ok, ok, hold up people. i know what you are thinking. nancy boy? san francisco? just bear with me. don’t worry ladies, i am still definitely in to you. a lot of people have been recommending the nancy boy shaving cream, so i figured i would give it a shot. the shampoo and conditioner also came highly recommended, so i tried that out too. all of the products have been great, so i decided to stop by the store and pick up some more stuff. i got bigger bottles of the shampoo/conditioner, then i picked up a cucumber after shave. they threw in some facial cleanser as a free gift. its quality stuff. i just got done with a nice shave using some geo f. trumper (btw, i ordered a sample pack from them.. got here pretty fast considering it was from london) coconut shaving cream and i finished it off with the cucumber after shave. a nice relaxing way to end the day and the weekend.

this should be a good week. i am excited for tuesday’s primaries. please everyone in ohio and texas, make the right decision and vote for the man who will reunite this country. i am also pumped for the apple town hall meeting on thursday morning. what will the iphone sdk have in store for us? how about a 3g phone?? i jumped ship over to at&t a few weeks ago in prep for when i will be picking one up. im sorry, but windows mobile just blows to use. save me soon apple!

ok, off to bed!
